What to Expect at Your First Hot Yoga Class in Zug

It all begins with an idea.

Thinking about trying your first hot yoga class in Zug? You’re not alone. Many people are curious about hot yoga but aren’t sure what to expect — Will the heat be too much? What should I wear? Do I need to be flexible?

At HotHaus Yoga Zug, we know stepping into an infrared-heated studio for the first time can feel both exciting and a little intimidating. That’s why we’ve created this guide to help you walk in confident, prepared, and ready to enjoy all the benefits of infrared hot yoga.

The HotHaus Difference: Infrared Heat & Our Method

Not all hot yoga is the same. At HotHaus Yoga, we use infrared heating panels instead of blowing hot air into the room. The infrared heat warms your body directly, rather than just the air around you. This makes the experience more comfortable, while still allowing you to:

  • Deepen your stretches safely

  • Improve circulation and recovery

  • Detoxify through gentle sweating

  • Support joint health without the heaviness of humid heat

On top of this, our HotHaus Method blends traditional yoga postures with strength, mindful movement, and breathwork — creating classes that are energizing, balanced, and accessible to all levels.

What to Wear & Bring to Class

One of the most common questions we hear from beginners is: What should I wear to hot yoga? Here’s what works best in our infrared studio:

  • Clothing: Choose light, breathable, moisture-wicking fabrics. Most people wear fitted shorts or leggings with a tank top or sports bra. Avoid heavy cotton — it gets uncomfortable once you start sweating.

  • Bring: A water bottle, a towel, and your yoga mat. If you don’t have a mat, we have high-quality ones available at the studio.

  • Optional: A change of clothes for after class, especially if you’re heading back to work or out with friends.

💡 Pro Tip: Hydrate before class. Drink water throughout the day leading up to your session, rather than trying to chug just before you arrive.

Before the Class

Arrive 10–15 minutes early for your first session. This gives you time to check in, find your spot in the room, and settle in without stress. If you’re new, let your instructor know — they’ll give you extra guidance and reassurance.

You don’t need to be flexible or experienced. HotHaus Yoga is designed for all levels. Our teachers offer modifications so you can practice at your own pace.

During the Class

When class begins, you’ll feel the gentle warmth of the infrared panels — usually around 32–35°C. It’s warm enough to make your body more supple, but not overwhelming.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • A welcoming community where everyone is focused on their own practice.

  • A class flow that moves between warming up, postures that build strength and flexibility, and a cool-down period.

  • Encouragement to listen to your body. It’s completely okay to take breaks, sit, or rest in child’s pose.

Most beginners are surprised at how quickly they adapt to the heat — and how good they feel afterwards.

After the Class

Post-class, expect to feel both energized and relaxed. Many students describe it as a light, clear, refreshed state of mind.

What to do afterwards:

  • Drink plenty of water to rehydrate.

  • Eat something nourishing within a couple of hours.

  • Give yourself time to rest — especially after your first class.

Hot yoga is most beneficial when practiced consistently. If possible, try 2–3 classes per week to really notice improvements in strength, flexibility, and stress relief.
